The morning was then spent with a group of local Connecticut birders at a well known 'hotspot' - River Road Kent. Cerulean Warbler amongst others was the target!
Thrushes were first in on the act though with this Brown Thrasher off the approach road
A Veery finally out in the open!
We had to work a lot harder for Cerulean Warbler and after distant canopy views during the walk, guess what, this male was showing in the Car Park on return - who knows what else we would have seen here!
The obligatory Eastern Phoebe, this time wreaking havoc on the butterflies!
Strictly record shot but a drive down the road rewarded us with this male Hooded Warbler!
A pretty good morning with other notables: Belted Kingfisher, Hooded and Common Merganser, Blue Gray Gnatcatcher, Yellow throated and Red-eyed Vireo, Great crested Flycatcher, Yellow bellied Sapsucker, Wood Thrush, Baltimore Oriole, Scarlet Tanager and Ovenbird! The drive to White Memorial Conservation Centre now beckoned.....
