Scilly Pelagic no 8 - Stormy Cory's seas

This was the moment we had all been waiting for? A nice Friday evening in a bit of a blow -  we were right in the middle of it with 30-40mph winds and on occasions rain!

A panoramic view just before leaving....

And the depression winding up nicely! Note the circle :-)

A bit of gentle rock and roll to start off with....

First encounters were with Great Skua....

Manx Shearwater......

Followed by a Cory's Shearwater spectacular! An estimated count of 42 were simply breathtaking to watch!

Some coming reallllllly close....

We were starting to get sprayed but at least Joe kept us away from any waves breaking on board!

Just five Great Shearwaters seen and time to let the stormy sea do the talking! We might have been struggling to stay upright but they were simply loving it!

And one of my favourite images from the whole trip, Cory's as one with the elements.....

It wasn't all plain sailing and we encountered a couple of squalls. If the link works - here's the view from the cabin as Pete Duckett filmed this Squall on way back  with everyone getting soaked (I think I was in the dry zone below the cabin!!

There was an amazing double rainbow to welcome us back from the gloom.....

What an evening..... and we were going to be back out in it again the following morning!!
