Minsmere - Bittern and distant Savi's

There were two highlights from a day spent at Minsmere. Firstly a lifer Savi's Warbler and one of the worst views I've ever had of any small warbler!! It was singing pretty much all morning and occasionally popped into one the small bushes across the water from Island Mere hide. Scope views were all I could 'enjoy' and come away with...

The second highlight was a Bittern from the tower hide, which flew in to the pool below...

And then after disappearing for ten minutes, reappeared and slowly crossed the pool / vegetation in front of the hide!

The master of stealth...

Not attempting to feed, seemed intent on reaching the safety of the nearby reed bed!

About to disappear...
